Mazda manual, haynes, or chiltons?

hi everybody. i have been trying to buy a manual for like a so week or so now. i was hoping to just stumble across one in a auto part store or a book store but it didnt happen. so i was wonder which one was better. which one would you buy? the mazda one from mazdatrix is like $70, the chiltons and haynes are like 20 bucks but are going to take like a week or so to get them. so i figured why not see what my peers like better. so what should i get. i am leaning towards the mazda one because it comes with the wiring diagram. i am not sure if the others do. ok thanks in advance,

john

You'll have to go with the Mazda, since that's your only choice. There's no Chilton's or Haynes for the 3rd gen.

Or you can use the search function and find a PDF version of the Mazda shop Manual to download for free.

You really NEED the Mazda manual. It's like 8" thick and worth it! Tom

I have the mazda one I dl'ed off the computer and went through a whole ink catridge(so you get an idea how big it is). But I only wish chilton or hayens made a book for the 3rd gen rx7.

I think the parts manual is kinda overrated. I thought it would help me with my engine R&R, and I'll say it did...a little bit, but it wasnt worth the $100 or whatever people pay. It is good for diagrams that show you where things go.... but if you expect it to walk you thru procedures, you might be disappointed.
It's online in pdf format, I think thats the best thing to do.

The PARTS Manual is different from the SERVICE manual (FSM) - The FSM does give Dissassembly/Assembly procedures (not very detailed though) and lots of trouble shooting and testing procedures - has been the about best $85 I have spent on my fd.

Even if Chiltons made a manual for this car and gave it away for free, I wouldn't take it to wipe my ***. Did an R&R on a Ford Ranger and their procedure for removing the clutch fan had you tightening the big *** nut (special tool) instead of loosening it. (2) guys and a pair of 4' breaker bars later, we tried to go the other way an Voila'. While the workshop manual for the FD may not show you how to do everything, it is a damn usefull tool. It may take awhile to learn all of the cross references and symbol terminology, but it beats scratching your head (or ***) trying to figure some things out without it. Worth the $
