If you want to see the worst one, ask them about an R1 front strut tower brace

Sign up w/Mazdacomp and cut those prices in half.

Turbos were $1984 or so about 1 yr ago.

OR

Call Ray Crowe at Malloy Mazda, he'll get close to Mazdacomp.

I think it is f#$%King unbelievable that the dealer needs to make $2,000 for selling something like the turbos. The Parts and Service department of dealerships is the gravy $$, they don't make much on new cars, but they do make some good $$ on used.

I went to one of the local Mazda dealerships last week to buy some spark plugs. Surprisingly, they had them in stock... and then they tried to sell them to me for $27 each!! I just drove down the street to a Napa parts store and bought them for $8 each.

We should be able to sell parts BACK to the dealer for like 10% of their selling price.

Hah, imagine the cost if you tried to piece build an FD from a mazda dealer, that would be like ferrari scale pricing.

I can imagine, I've just gone through the process of purchasing a ton of stuff since I have my engine out and wanted to get all the important internal components new. Luckily Ray kicks the crap out of any other Mazda dealer's prices...

A ballpark figure I have seen is that it costs about 5x the original cost of a car to built it from parts. So many cars would easily hit Ferrari territory if built from parts. However, I would guess that that multiple is 10x or more for FDs. If you factor in dealer gouging, it could be 20x.

I really don't understand the gouging that Mazda dealers indulge in though. I had to walk out of a local dealer a few months ago because they refused to sell me a part for MSRP - they wanted 2x MSRP and would not budge. I have never seen or heard of this happening with other manufacturers. Most dealers will charge MSRP at worst, with the parts generally being available online or from bulk dealers for 20% or so less. The difference between Malloy and my local Mazda dealers can be 2-3x. Mazda parts prices are absurd enough to begin with.

I agree that Ray at Malloy has great prices. The problem I've had this week is that I've left messages (3) times and e-mailed him to get prices/place an order and have yet to hear from him. The price of being well known ....

Anyone ever use Trussellville (sp?) Mazda?

Here's another good price, althought not nearly as bad as some of the ones mentioned here...

New trunk mat was $312 for me about 3 years ago. Bought it before I knew about Malloy, or the forum.

I have to admit though, nothing beats the looks of a brand new OEM part.

That's strange. I called him yesterday...spent some time with him on the phone. He told me he need to hunt the part number down for a wierd part that I needed. Called me back 30 mins later and placed the order. Total phone time was maybe 15 mins.

I tried calling him today to order some parts for my bros FC and he was busy on the other line so I just placed it with one of the other people working there. They give you the same price discounts, but they don't all know that Ray ships parts overnight or 2 day. I didn't feel like informing this particular guy so I just accepted the extra day or two the parts are gonna take to ship. I'm not in a rush anyways since it's not for my car

On 9/23/03, the passenger door interior panel was $1067.65 (as per the insurance company). It has obviously gone up since then, as others have mentioned.

Also lets not foget the notorious price RAPEFEST for the stock foglight switch. Until '03, it was $70, then all of a sudden, it jumped to $90. I think it has passed the $100 mark now...

Just bought the two oil metering pump lines that connect to the oil injectors from a local mazda dealership. Set me back $80.xx! Thats just ridiculous for some hard plastic lines and a few metal connections.

You should return them and buy the metal aftermarket ones for $20 more.
