Maybe bad...long....cry...
Well this morning I went out to start my car and it cranked really hard and after starting it smoked white smoke for almost 10 minutes before it mellowed out. It smelled like a mixture of gas and coolant. My temps were fine but I had smoke coming out form both the exhaust and the turbo side of the motor towards the firewall.
I drove it to work and it drove fine but after I got there I poppped the hood and it still smelled of coolant. Me and my friend decided to let it sit for a few hours to see if coolant was puddling inside the combustion chamber. So after about 5 hours or so we go back out and try to start it. Again it started way different than usual. Still smoked a bit and agian smelled of coolant. Then worst of all my "Add Coolant" AKA "Change Engine" light came on but it went back off in a few seconds. My coolant is full but my motor doesn't seem right.
My PFC also started to go back into the Lobing idle effect. It hasn't done that in a while but it started back up today. My motor was supposed to be a new Pettit Streetportd motor with 3mm seals and installed less than 15k miles ago. Wether this is true or not, I don't know yet. It does not sound as aggressive as my friends Atkins Streetport but who knows.
My main question is wether or not I need to rebuild my motor or if there is some other possiblity. Could my Turbos be leaking coolant and causing all this. I know when my Turbo went out on my GSX it was to the same effect but my car still started fine, now my car starts like *** and smokes. If anyone has any ideas or suggestions, please let me know. I was going Single in November but I need a motor first. I am going full Bridge if I have to redo it. How much do you think that will cost to have my motor Bridge Ported with new 3mm seals, dowels, etc... Also, who to go to? BNR? Pineapple? Atkins? Pettit? KDR?
Thanks,
Scott

sure it is... if I have to rebuild it then it is going as big as possible while still being streetable. I am still going single this winter so I figure a Bridged Single will be much nicer than my stocker. If the motor is already ported and still in good shape with 3mm then I will stick with 3mm but if it not ported and still as the stock seals and is in good condition then I will stick with 2mm.
Why would you say not to bridge it? I have a daily anyways so that is not my problem. Money is a problem but I'll have to work around that right now.

I would highly recommend not going bridge porting unless your doing an all-out drag car which you are not. Could be your coolant seals - that's what happened to me with similar symptoms. I think bridge porting increases top-end considerably but idling and low end are horrible. I know KDR does awesome streetports and have heard good things about Pineapple. BNR does engines but I haven't heard much about his engines - mostly his turbos. Hope everything works out for you - do a compression test.

Coolant seals should not be going out on a 15k mile engine. Any reputable engine builder would not keep using an old housing if the coolant passageways are all corroded through. Did you ever overheat the car?

To the other remark about the motor.
I bought it and the previous owner had the motor redone at Pettit. I have the bill but the bill also includes a DP which was not on it when I bought it and I had to get one myself. So I am wondering if this was all some scam. It is from Pettit Racing and the Total Bill was $10k for a new Streetported Motor, New Turbos, Intake (which was on the car), TKT Package (which was on the car), Pettit Cat-Back Exhaust (which was on the car), Boost Gauge, and Install. It was all done about 1.5 years ago and has since been about 15,000 miles. It makes me leary about the motor because it does not sound SP'd and there was no DP installed either. I am going to take the motor out next week and see.

Well this car will not be my daily driver. It will be a weekend car with mostly Street Racing and Track use. It is not my grocery getter and will only see the streets at night. I will drive it to the races though. I was thinking about BNR Race Port but I don't know how aggressive that is. More than a SP but less than a BP I believe.
I know SP can go fast but how much more HP can you gain from a BP compared to a SP? If I go SP then who builds the best SP motors? My friend has an Atkins Stage 2 SP and it is not enough for me. I don't care about Gas mileage, Idle quality, etc... Just mainly 1/4 mile passes. It has to be able to get me to the track though. So if it can't drive there safely, I don't want it but I know some people drive their BP cars all the time. So why would it be so bad?

rotary reliabilty and racing builds the best motors in cali. 7148398018 they have great prices too...you should talk to all the above...ive heard great things about pineapple and bnr as well. ask for nick at rotary.
btw...yer gonna have the laggiest damn car if you go with a larger than street style port job. no low end at all.
that is enough reason to not do it. i have a streetport and my setup...if i up the boost on my m2 turbos to 16lbs i cant keep the wheels stuck to the road...it roars all the way thru first and second on good tires.
thats fast enuff for me. scary fast for the street.
