Maximun Ignition Advance.

Ok here is the deal:
if you have the ignition too retarded , the EGT is going to be very hi, you are going to have very low power but it seems like your engine is going to be safe.
If you have the ignition too advance you going to have a lots of power , but you are going to knoc and blow your engine.
So here comes the question , how you can know the maximun advance of you wankel rotary engine to have low EGT and nice power without risk your engine??
Please I don't want to beat the a world record of WHP of a 13REW , and I know that when you have more split you get less EGT but that's not the ponit , I just want to know better how to be in a safe plase without the extremely hot EGTs , and I want to know if I can trust in a knoc sensor , or know that when the engine knoc or the knoc sensor sence that the engine is under detonation , it is too late?. cause that is how the new piston generation engines works , they sense the octane of the fuel with the knoc sensor , so they have 2 ignition system and they mix them , one for the poores octane fuel and other for the hiest octane fuel.

Please let me know if you have eny idea
