First off I have to ask.. WHY? I'm doing an auto-5 speed swap right now so I can help you out a little. The auto engines are a little different from the 5 speed engines. The rear housings on the auto and 5 speed are completely different, the holes to bolt the starter to don't line up. You can fabricate a bracket to make it work though. Here are a few good places to get started, they are all for auto-5 speed, but just follow the directions in reverse:

Other than the rear housing differences you'll have to take off the flywheel and install a flexplate, and a few other odds and ends.

I'm leaning towards 'no' on this one. I'm actually doing the opposite.
The problem is the starter. When mating a manual tranny to the auto model rear housing, there is a small gap where the starter goes - on the manual bell housing. So this means on the auto model rear housing, there is a piece of metal cut away that exposes this hole.
Using this logic, the manual model rear housing would have a piece of metal where the auto starter would sit. Makes sense? Not sure if does to me...
Anyways, I dont have both trannys and both rear housings sitting on teh floor next to each other, so i can't say 100%.
Just hold out for a manual tranny...

Thanks Jr and dclin for your feedback. I was actually hoping to do an entire swap over to stick shift but in a country like malaysia where the traffic is horrible i would like to stick to the auto. If at all you guys could post up some pics which will help me out?? So this procedure has been done before successfully? its really difficult to get a good engine here. Regards.

It is possible to mate a auto tranny to a manual engine. Don Marvel did one for my friend. He charged my friend 400 to mate the tranny to the housing.
PS: give him a call , and he well answer any question.
