map sensor filter missing

Hi guys, just noticed the otherday I am missing the filter in the hose to the map sensor, is this filter absolutely necessary ? and are they even available at mazda any more ?

The filter also acts as an "attenuator," i.e., it dampens the pulses in manifold pressure so that the MAP sensor reads more accurately and won't fatigue out from the vibrations. So, IMO, it should be there.
