Manifold cracks

Hey guys

I'm in the middle of the turbo rebuild and the manifold is cracked similar to the guys in the FAQ thread on turbo rebuilds. I'm not too keen on leaving the manifold cracked like this so I was thinking I'd machine out the cracks and fill with a disimilar welding rod and remachine. Any one ever done a repair on these???
Cheers

B.

I've rebuilt the HT12's but just found a set with no cracks in the manifold. It's easier said than done.

Also, if nobody's said it yet, the chances that a rebuild will work on a set that is already smoking is not very good. You're better off finding a set that is still good and refreshing it before you put it in the car.

Also, don't forget red loctite on the compressor nut!

I too have a set with big cracks in the manifold. I'll probably end up junking them because it's just not worth the hassle when you could just get a set for cheap in better condition.

Yes, Garfinkle (and others) typically use nicad rods to weld the cracks.

I'll chance welding then so, getting a second hand set here just costs extra and I can do the work myself anyway so all it'll cost me is the price of the rods. Wont actually take too long either, as for the rebuild I'll chance it, kits bought so just waiting now for delivery
