malfunction indicator light

that light came on the other night, when I was driving home...(check engine light), and the crappy owners manual (all I have for now) said that its an engine problem, regarding the electric system, and to of course; "consult your nearest mazda dealer immediately". I was wondering why this light could have turned on...I think my battery is on its last limbs, so that is most likely what I think it is...it came on the same night that I hooked up my turbo timer, so maybe it could be the way I hooked up the timer? But I used the wiring harness for the timer, so I dont see why there could possibly be any problems.

check your connections and do an error code check. it could be a faulty sensor.
