Major problem need help and advice!!!

Last night I was driving my 7 and we stopped at a friends house. The car was still on and we were debating to go in or not. When we decided not to I put the car in first gear and was ready to drive off and then we decided to go up to the door to see if he was at home. So I put it back in neutral. I stayed in the car because I knew he wasnt there so when he wasnt there we were gonna leave and then the car wouldnt get into a gear at all. I could engage the clutch and turn the car on and off but everytime I would let off the clutch it would stall out on me it was truly weird does anyone have any clue what it might be. Im pretty sure it has to do with the transmission locking up on me but I need to know what are my options. I have a warranty on the car but Im just curious as to what might be the problem. Let me know and I appreciate it guys.

can you get her in to gear? any grind/past grinding problems? Getting the car to turn on would just have to do with the clutch switch and not the actual clutch mechanical system. Things to check (which does not require dropping the tranny which btw is not really that hard especially if you got a lift) would be the clutch master cylinder/slave cylinder, clutch hard pipe lines and soft line, clutch fork.

BTW: are you starting in 1st gear? any alarm system on the car?

No there are no grinding problems in the gears. The car is stuck in reverse sorry if i didnt clarify that. I can drive it in reverse to the shop but I dont feel that the police would appreciate that. I dont have a lift to get the tranny out but I have a warranty so thats the least of my worries. Its not the clutch switch I just got that replaced and so I dont know what it might be.
