Major problem here

I purchased a pettit unlimited ecu from a fellow member on this forum, when i had it installed i noticed that the ecu was giving me below normal boost patterns, the boost pattern was like 7-5-5-5. I took it down to my shop and put back the stock ecu and the problem was resolved with normal boost pattern. Now i installed the other Pettit ecu that the shop had and the boost was better than normal. So i opened up that pettit ecu and compared it to this so called pettit unlimited ecu and noticed that the chips and everything were the same accept that on the shops pettit that worked good in my car had labels that were computer printed on the white stickers that were on the chips. Where as on the computer that i purchased from this guy had white stickers on the chips but had a format on the white stickers with lines to write, anyway the writing on these stickers werent computer printed but were done by hand. Does it seem that these chips were copied? what do you guys think? can this computer that i recieved may have been installed wrong? the guy said it worked wonders in his car but in my car its giving me lower boost? sounds like its copied to me because that usually what happens when you copy from a chip because not everything get copied properly, just like a cd, you copy it onto another cd from the original and sometimes on the copied cds you will get a glich. So whats your guys opinion, was this ecu copied? installed wrong or what, I have asked this fellow member for a full refund.

Maybe the ecu is just tuned for a different setup? Maybe you'll have to get it reprogrammed with your setup? Is your setup different than the guy that you bought it from? Maybe you can contact him if that's possible.

I can contact him, he had downpipe, midpipe, catback and street port with intake and Intercooler, where as i have a downpipe and just catback exhaust. Dont the Pettit ecu adapt automatically to your mods?

to an extent they can run without some items but it will just run either rich or lean, but i'm pretty sure you need to tuned for your car.

SupraKiller,
I hope you're kidding. There is no ECU that looks throughout your car and decides what is best to run. Some programmable ECUs have a "self learn" function that is debatable as to its effectiveness, but that is talking programmable ECUs. Pettit, XS, G-force, M2 ECUs are all pre-reprogrammed ECUs that change fuel maps mainly to add fuel to compensate for increased air flow. This is a one time deal where the ECU chip is burned with the maps and that's it. It doesn't adapt, learn or change unless you change the chips. This is why people get chips burned for their mods. All you hear about is the "unlimited" chip which basically is a rich map designed for intake, dp, mp, catback, intercooler, fuel pump, basic bolt ons... With your catback and downpipe, you are going to be running very rich, but the boost issue should not suffer to the extent you are describing. I would check with the seller of the ECU to be sure that he's legit. Worst situation, send the ECU back to Pettit, describe your current mods, future mods, problem and they will help you get the best setup for your car and that way you're dealing with a company and not a guy off the forum.
I also suggest researching what is available in the ECU market and the differences before you blow up your engine!

Richard

I think that everyone on the forum who has had an aftermarket ECu and an engine rebuild is going to call you an idiot.
