Major Engine Accessory R&R: Parts List w/Prices

I've been studying the forum, and the FSM planning a major R&R project for one of my FD's. Thought the information I have compiled may be useful to fellow forum members looking for part numbers and/or price information. Most of the parts listed are OEM, but not all. The "best price" column is what I have found comparing prices from many of the well known sources mentioned here on the forum. Are prices were obtained from the net, i.e. no direct quotes from suppliers.

Ha - I've probably ordered 1/3 of the parts on this list in the past three months (y-pipe and downpipe are going in this weekend) and will order the other 1/3 in the next few months. My car has only 45k miles so I'm not going to go all out with the engine or turbo gasket set.

You missed two parts though:

I would replace the two large air hoses that attach to the y-pipe when you are upgrading to the Efini - these take a lot of heat; mine were very hard at the attachment point. P/Ns for these are: N3A1-13-766 ($16), N3A1-13-765 ($8).

Also, the vacuum hoses and check valve kit (N3A1-13-SHX) does not include all the 60 or so vacuum hoses that need to be replaced - it has 20 or so. In any case, silicone or Viton would probably be better than the stock rubber hoses when upgrading.

Two other things I would add are an upgraded radiator (Koyo, $350) and new oil pressure sender ($80).

The RB exhaust and aluminum pipes are really mods - they are not really R&R. Still, the total amount of money is significant. I've already spent $1k and will soon spend $1k more on R&R on a car I bought a few months ago.

Thanks, I'll add these to the list. What's another $24.

Ditto here. Did not know it did not include all the hoses. I'll select from one of the kits available from hightempsiliconce, or Baker Precision.

I'm still undecided on a radiator manuf. which is the reason I did not list it. I did list the oil pressure sender, but listed it as oil pressure switch.

You are right that these are mods. Actually all of the items below "Eliminate accelerated warmup system" are really mods.

That's a good list! There's a lot of things on the list that are somewhat optional - many things should be checked and replaced if it needs it.

Where did you get the pricing on the clutch kit? Is that a stock or aftermarket clutch?

For others looking at the list, this is by no means a "must-do" list for an engine swap. Many items are "while you are in there" items - some things may be good and not need a replacement. Also, a few things are upgrades - the braided OMP lines, for example. While I like the braided lines, it's MUCH cheaper for a set of stockers that will last about 100,000 miles - for the price of the braided lines, you can buy 2 sets of stockers.

Also, you don't need the FULL gasket kit unless you're rebuilding the engine yourself. With a reman, you just need the external gaskets - you don't need the water seals, engine O-rings, etc.

Anyhow, good stuff!

Dale

I agree that not everything needs to be replaced. I just wanted to get an idea of how much it would cost if everything were to be replaced/repaired.

Stock clutch from www.mazdaformance.com .

I agree with everything you said here. My planning is based on the "while you are in there" approach. If I'm going to the trouble to pull the motor and mess with vacuum hoses, and the fuel rail/injectors, etc. I figured I might as well address as much stuff as I can at one time. The only other time I want to do this again is when I have to replace the motor.

Also, you don't need the FULL gasket kit unless you're rebuilding the engine yourself. With a reman, you just need the external gaskets - you don't need the water seals, engine O-rings, etc.
I haven't priced the individual stuff yet, but based on posts I have seen about the cost of exhaust manifold, LIM, UIM gasket, water pump, water pump housing gasket, etc. costs, I assumed a total gasket set would be less expensive. Plus I would have the internals stuff when the time comes.
