Magnaflow catalytic

Does anyone know if the Magnaflow hi-flow catalytic converter, part number 94109, can be used in the FD without the airtube or will the heat from the exhaust break up the ceramic comb? Here are my mods:

Megan DP
RB dual
HKS TP
HKS RS
Apexi PFC
Blitz SMIC
Koyo radiator
Bonez resonated MP

I'm wondering if I can weld the Magnaflow hi-flo cat onto the Bonez MP without the airpump hooked up. I tried searching but found nothing on it. Thanks!

In a battle between that catalytic converter and the heat of the rotary exhaust, my bet is that the rotary exhaust wins. Especially without an airpump hooked into the system.

Yeah, that's what I kinda figured too but was hoping to get away without the airpump. Damn CA emissions....

How long do you think the cat will last without the airpump?

Also, with the Greddy pulley, can I still run the airpump?

Without the airpump it probably will not pass CA emissions. The rotary runs too rich. Nevermind melting. The airpump is how it works. It needs the oxygen to catalyze the exhaust as well as not melt.

Quite a few people have used Magnaflow hi-flo's without problems. I believe the RX7Store uses them for their hi-flo cats.

As for without the air tube: There is no definitive information on ruining a cat by not running the airpump. However, passing emissions without the airpump just ain't going to happen (and you are in CA).

Another cat to consider is: http://www.rpmoutlet.com/powercat.htm

I'll be running that one myself. I have no idea on the longevity of it at this time.
