m2 stage 3??

m2 stage 3??
I know this topic is brought up alot, but I did a search and couldnt find anything that I found very useful. Ok heres my question, I was planning on getting a M2 Stage 3 kit, includes DP, cat-back, large IC, reprogrammed Ecu. I just wanted input from anyone who has or has had this setup, and what are your opnions of it?? I know alot of you are against reprogrammed ECU's and will say to just get a haltec or PFC or something, but my goal is to run low-mid 12's in the 1/4 and still be realiable(as possible), and Ive heard M2 programs very conservitavely, so it will be safe. It says its good for 315rwhp, so thats like 362 at the flywheel right?? Will I be able to get those times with this setup, or will I be disappointed?? Any input would be greatly appreciated.

the M2 ECU is a great unit, from what ive heard, if you dont plan to go big with modifications. the only mods an M2 ECU can safely support is an intake, downpipe, high-flow cat, cat back, and intercooler. that setup with 13 psi of boost (what the M2 ECU is set at) can get you low-mid 12s on drag radials or slicks. some people run a midpipe too and say that there are no problems, but M2 does not reccomend it.
if you want to go one step above the M2, check out the Pettit Unlimited. it can handle everything the M2 can, and also a midpipe and streetported engine. some people have hit very low 11s running the Pettit ECU.
if you ever plan on getting larger injectors or going single turbo, then you need to get standalone, tuneable ECU.

m2 makes great products. if you plan on only doing thoes mods then i would recommend getting that setup. if you do decide in the long run to upgrade to FMIC, ported engine, and single turbo you will end up spending more money in the long run.

The nice thing about the M2 or Pettit ecu's is that you can turn around and sell them for what you paid for them and then put that money towards a PFC or Haltech if you're going with injectors or single. The Pettit unlimited is nice and can support I think up to 15 psi also. I would go with a Pettit unlimited. But even the base maps for the PFC can support intake, exhaust, and dp and probably a smic - your car will run a little smoother with a PFC over a remapped ecu.

in order to run the E.T.s you want, you will likely need a midpipe....the M2 ECU does not support a midpipe, from what I have heard, but the Pettit does...I have been running my Pettit with a midpipe for over a year now....the car screams

The M2 stage 3 is a great ecu. I don't think there is any difference between that and the Pettit unlimited chip. I have been running Intake, DP, MP, Dual N1's, 15psi, M2 large intercooler, and Non-sequential for 2 years and no problems at all. I have run a 12.6@117 with a horrible 2.3 60ft. So with a good launch this ecu is very capable of a low 12, just do your suspension up to get rid of wheel hop. If you ever want to run faster do the rear end and full slicks and you could pull off 11's. If you are interested in picking one up let me know, I may be going single and looking to get rid of mine, melon350@aol.com.

I believe M2 recommends against running a midpipe with their ECU, but whatever
also, 15 psi is really pushing it with the stock injectors....you may get away with it for awhile, and you may not

What about high-flow cats
Will the M2 Stage 3 ECU support a Bonez high flow cat? I'd have all M2 Stage 3 items...airbox, Large IC, Trust catback, and in place of the stock main cat, I'll have the Bonez high flow catalysts. I plan to run only 10 psi of manifold pressure.

I think there is plenty of fuel with the stock injectors at 15psi, upgrading the fuel pump is a must, but I think the injectors are fine. I think M2 won't tell anyone to run all those mods on there car to save there *** in case someone pops a motor, but I have heard there maps are more conservative than Pettits. I admit that I have been lucky, when tuning my bleed valves I hit 18psi many times, and did so tuning the avcr also, and hit 23psi when my wastegate failed and stuck closed. I don't see any reason to be worried about how I have been running my car, it works fine for me and I run 15psi all the time and generally beat the crap out of this motor. I'll confirm the fuel delivery in the spring with a wideband.
