M2 Intake vs. others

Is the M2 cold air intake really the best intake (as in horsepower gains)? I've heard that it was a really good intake but I hear lot's of other people talking about every other kind of intake except the M2's.

Thumbs down

Save yourself the cash and avoid this scam. An intake is just a freggin' air filter. Go get yourself a couple of tube K&N filters and you've got yourself an intake.
If you think Im making this up about not needing a box. Ask yourself this. How many single turbos do you see with an air box?....... Exactly ,none because its just not necessary.I really wish I spent my $400 dollars somewhere else than I parts I didnt really need.

M2 has the best LOOKING air box and it does keep air cooler to some extent...does it make a big difference? Probably not but it can't hurt either.

Most guys I've seen with single turbos have at least a heat shield on the intake.

Fd3BOOST is right though, an intake is just that.

Unless you want the flash of the box, cheaper alternatives are out there.

Most single turbos don't have a box because it is hard to make one due to the size of the hose, filter, and interference with IC piping. Single turbo cars would benefit from a cool air intake just like stock turbo cars.

Cool intake air is good for your engine and air pump, and good for power (ever driven on a cold night?). The M2 is my favorite intake box.

This might be the test to which you're referring: http://www.gtrowner.com/induction.html .

i just installed my apex intake last week and my air intake temps are not much higher than when i had my stock airbox which was supposed to draw air from the front of the car through the intercooler duct. on avg w/ the stock airbox on the freeway, i was seeing around 32C/44C (night/day) and a water temp of 88C... with my apex intake, i see around 34C/45C (night/day) and my water temp is 85C, probably due to the fact my radiator now gets gets better air flow w/o the stock airbox blocking it. these were measured w/ my apex powerfc and i have a stock intercooler with a the apex intakes. i'm curious as to what intake temps people are seeing with the m2 boxes...
