ON M-Spec FMIC install (pics)

hi everyone

just wanted to share my latest work that i did over the weekend , very excited to get this as its my very first fmic setup .
starting off with the kit, its from the rx7store . its the Greddy M-spec replica one also i ordered a koyo N-flow radiator to go along with it all. Jason from this forum that works at the rx7store was good with all the questions i had about the kit and parts i wasnt sure about and shipping didnt take long at all .

I ended up downloading a picture instruction page off this forum -http://czfitnessproducts.com/tom94RX-7/GreddyFMIC/Install_Pictures/
which was a big help as the one off the rx7store was a bit hard to read where bolts and mounts were suppose to go .

So i had previously removed my A/C, stock intercooler, rad, bumper support beam, power steering cooling line, intake and mounts. Deleting my A/C all together made me have a lot more room to work and i didnt have to use half of the mounts and tabs that came with the FMIC kit.

Started with sketching out the intercooler on my bumper support and making a cut out of it, when i went to bolt the intercooler on with the bumper support it was a bit off on the sides about an inch on each side which i thought was weird , like the tabs were welded in the wrong place , so after taking a step back and giving it a thought i assumed since this kit was for a US spec car and mine was a japanese spec car with different safety standards so i knew i would have to make some adjustments along the way which i didnt mind since you wont be able to see half of it anyway with the bumper skin on.

aside from making my own extended mounts for the intercooler that i had left over from the kit that were suppose to be for the A/C the install was a breeze but once i got to the home stretch i ran into a bit of another issue , the pipping that came with the kit wasnt exactly the same as in the instructions, the left side would have worked perfect but the right side connecting to the elbow didnt seem to line up , i had two L shaped pipes when i should have had one long one. It wasnt a big deal since i didnt really like the look of how they ran the pipping , im a really big fan of the Blitz FMIC kit and how even and flush it looks, however with my fuse box being where it is and me worried about hood clearance i just decided to try something different .

working with the pipping that came with the kit i made a couple mock ups of how i wanted it to go and how everything could fit differently , cut some of the pipping up and this is what i ended up with as a finished product

im always finishing up a 5 speed swap so i will post pictures of everything together with the bumper skin and everything within the week to come
enjoy

Nice work! Does the IC disrupt much of the airflow to your radiator?

thanks you

at first i wanted to go V-mount but found my budget was more for the FMIC and that what i thought at first about the air flow that it was going to block all the air to my radiator.

i purchased an N-flow radiator to help with what i thought and so far my temps are better than when i had a stock system , 35'C days on the highway my temp is right around 150, 160'F ( 65-70'C) and city bumper to bumper traffic it doesnt go past 185'F.

i deleted my A/C as well so its just the intercooler and the radiator getting the airflow, the oem undertray helps with the temps in a big way too

I really like this setup, are you going to need a longer lower radiator hose?

the kit its self came with smaller aluminium piping so you just cut sections of your radiator hoses out and put the pipe in place where you cut out. you just need to buy a few more clamps, i doubled up on the ends connecting to the new piping from the old hose just to be sure it would not leak.

thanks again
