75w90. Amsoil, Redline, Royal Purple, etc. You need almost 5 qts to do the diff and trans.

When I did mine, a gallon of NEO 75W90 did both. IIRC, the diff takes 1.4 qts., and the trans 2.6.

I believe in using GL-4 synthetic in the trans and GL-5 diff oil in the differential. The lubricative requirements of the diff and tranny are actually quite different.

Considering that the correct lube can lower drivetrain losses (more power), it makes sense to me to buy optimal lubes for each one. FD owners are known to spend a lot more to get a lot less benefit.

My favorites include:
trans: Amsoil MTG 75w-90, Redline MT-90
diff: Redline Shockproof series

From the '93 FD service highlights manual (from the stickies):

Transmission, 2.6 qt.
Diff, 1.38 qt.
