"S" to the earch.

Since i'm nice, no they're not the same, but the S4 TII diff and the Fd diff are interchangeable

they are not the same. i belive the S4 and S5 T2 diff is a clutch pack style, and the FD is a viscous style.

Partial correct.
The FD is a Torsen unit with all gears and no cluthces.
The TII non-viscous is a clutch type and is the strongest of the three.
The viscous is the worst of the three.

Then maybe I am not 100% correct either.

FDs have Torsen LSDs, S5 TIIs have viscous LSDs and S4 TIIs have Clutch LSDs. The Clutch LSDs are the strongest if you want to drag race. For road racing, the Torsen diff will improve your cornering ability.

The viscous noone talks about, so I assume it's as weak as a Torsen LSD and probably doesn't do any better cornering.

There probably isn't an easy way to tell by looking at it. but os giken stuff is NICE, and if you can get it at a good price, do it. then if it doesnt work for you, sell it at the same or slightly inflated price... as long as its fair

on a side note, it looks like a clutch plate lsd, and is probably intended for racing apps. so if you use it on the street, expect a lot of noise and bucking when making low speed, tight turns. as in a parking lot, etc.

Here's how it goes

S6 = Torsen - good for road course
S5 = Viscous horrible - stay away
S4 = Clutch style - good for drag

Now the S4 & S5 came in two different sizes - TII 8" ring I believe & N/A 7" ring. All S4 & S5 Turbo diffs are interchangeable with the FD's. So if you can ask OS Giken either the size of the ring gear or whether or not it's for a turbo or non-turbo - you will have your answer. However - is it really necessary? To be honest I am swapping out the S4 TII Diff (as said before the absolute strongest of the three) and putting in a Torsen I picked up from a forum member.
