Ls1 vs new motor...what would you guys choose?

It looks like I will have to get a new motor. I have been reading a lot and its going to be btw the Ls1 and a new rotary with a street port. Now I am wondering what they would sell for with brand new motors. My rx7 has completely wiped out my account and this motor will be the last thing I am going to do. So I wondering what I could get with a new street port motor? new Ls1 engine swap?

LS1 is more reliable than the rotary's, but not as much fun Search because their are heaps of threads about the two.

I have very seriously thought about the LS1, and right now, i'm thinking that i'm staying with the rotary and going single turbo. If I want that motor, i'll buy a Vette. I love the C5's and I flat out lust after the new ones.
Plus, it seems alot of those LS1 dudes have trouble putting their power to the ground. But, all I know is what i've read, so that actually may not be the truth in real life. After all, the new Vette is what....2900 lbs(very comparable), and you don't hear magazines writing that it has trouble putting it's power to the ground(although we don't have Traction control), so maybe it's only a matter of time before the LS1 dudes figure it out.

Just my opinion, but the rotary engine is the heart and soul of the FD. It just doesn't seem right to replace it with an american piston engine.

Not to knock those who have decided to do the LS1 swap, but I am with vader on this one, if I want an LS1, I will go buy a vette...

I can only imagine the discussions that take place here. I probably don't have to clarify this, but I didn't mean anything negative towards the people that have gone LS1. I have(in the past) considered it, and probably still will(consider it) in the future.

Unless you can do the work yourself (which I'm guessing not, by your threads, no offense meant at all by that), an LS-1 swap is going to cost twice as much as rebuilding a motor. At least.

You want to know what they really cost, look at www.torquecentral.com or in the Other Engines sub-forum. I'm not going to allow another LS-1/rotary slingfest thread in here.

Have you even taken the car to an experienced rotary mechanic to verify that it's blown?
