Low Top Speed in 2nd Gear?
Low Top Speed in 2nd Gear?
When I almost hit the redline in 2nd, the speed is just a little over 60 mph. I heard it's supposed to be something like 70 mph, is there anything wrong with my FD?
Well, in gearing a car can be very weird...
Depending what you want your car to do is how you gear it..
If you want it to get up to speed fast you gear it low. But doing that you make your over all speed lower...
You can gear your car for over all speed but the time it takes to get up to that speed is longer since it makes the car work more.

are you dragging you car or something?
in any case ill post my little list at the end of the post again so that you can see the gear to mph. the guys that are hitting 70 mph may be running different types of tire/rim combos. i know for a fact that my brothers fd with has 275/40/17 on a 17 inch rim are about 5-8 mph faster then my stocker with has stock tires and rims.
also your speedometer might be off a little, when I drove my dads merc and my brothers drove his fd, it showed that his speedometer was a little off. (im assuming a 50 grand merc would have a little more accurate speedometer then a 30 grand rx-7 but I could be wrong.)

2nd gear top speed
7000 is not near the redline the redline is 8000 I think the buzzer comes on at 7500
but I don't feel any fuel cut until after 8000.
Also in the post which list rpms and gear to speed 72 mph is right at 8000 so almost at redline would be 70. Guess what nothing wrong with your 2nd gear speed.
