Low mileage stock or high mileage modded?
Guys, I'm going to buy an FD soon. But can't decide on a stock 40k mileage car or one with rebuilt engine (20k miles) and reliability mods done (body about 110k on it). Both about $15-16k. What do you think?

I'd want a reliable car. As reliable as can be anyway. I won't be able to do any mods in the near future (6months) after i buy the car. Then again, I'm not going to push it that hard.

I agree that the low mileage car would probably be the better choice. You have to consider the wear to all of the other parts of the car. I bought my FD with 70K miles on it and had to have my suspension replaced as well as my brake rotors by the time I hit 78K miles.

go with the modded one. With 20K on a rebuilt engine and reliability mods you'll make out better in my opinion.
So long as the modded car has a pretty good body and no rust.
Especially if you don't plan to push the car hard. Then instead of spending money on the engine and reliability mods, you can save money for fixing other things.
Just my opinion.

I say go mith the low milage one.
the engine is actually one of the least expensive components (comparatively). Wait till you replace the turbos! fift gear synchro ect. The other stuff that goes bad with high milage cars.
The reliability mods do not cost that much to add so in essence it should not be a factor.

I would go the the low miles one, then put relibiality modifications on it. But sometimes it doesn't really matter. I bought my fd with 52k on the odo and I blew it 5500 miles later. But then theres fd's with over 100,000 on originals and they run like gold.
