Low boost problem

I would rather call and bug the **** out of Allrotor93 but hes going to be a daddy in just a few days and i feel like ive called him everyday since i bought the car from him (sorry)....... I have a beautiful 93 with rebuilt motor and 20k on the twins. I just hit my 500 mile break in marker and noticed under WOT i only get 6.5 to 7 psi of boost. I have used the "search" button and ive come across something call restrictor pills. I looked for the lines in my car and saw they had been replaced with red silicone lines (not factory black rubber). So... im guessing that its a posibility the pills were not replaced in the lines. Now when i take them off to see if the restrictor pills are in them.....
Q:
what do they look like (research says: a small metal ball with a hole in it)?

If there are no restrictor pills in the lines were can i get them locally?

If everything is as it should be were do i start from there?

these are cheap and easy to come by . most likely this is the culprit to your low boost issues as well . you can order them from mazda , or malloy mazda from the forums . brand new . stuffing them inside the silicone hoses will not be fun LOL

ORRR you can contact Fritz Flynn on the FOrums hes in VA and he normally has everything .. LOL

I got mine from him last year and am having the same boost issue, never able to figure out what it is. I've checked my wastegate lines and the pills are there, and verified all the vacuum lines are hooked up right, but I'm still only able to get 7psi out of the primary and maybe 8psi on the secondary.

just to expand on what everyone else is saying/thinking...

u said that u just finished a 500 mile break in period right?

usually on a install that requires a break in period... i set up the engine to only let the engine run on wastegate pressure (6-7psi) just in case the owner forgets about the break in a decides to gun it he cant do to much damage, if any.
seeing that the lines were replaced and assuming that the builder knew what he was doing...the builder probally did this on purpose.

for the newbies, this is easily done by running the turbo outlet line directly to the wastegate without a restrictor in it. simply install the right restricter pill and be on your way

i believe you'll find most carb jets have too large a pilot hole and won't clamp the source as much as it should, you can get some off the forum in the used parts section or order the lines from mazda which will have the pills in them.

another alternative is to get a rod of solid aluminum and cut off a few pies, drill the billets with a small bit and install them into the lines.

i forget the drill size you need but it is on the forum in a few places with some digging.

also be aware that some of the turbos had the restrictor built into the nipples on the actuator.

Get a proper boost controller and stop messing with pills.

As above - get a boost controller. There is no guarantee that pills will get you a desired boost pattern if the car or engine has been modified. You can pickup a good quality ball and spring manual controller in the classifieds for about $50.

Steve restricts the boost on purpose. Just get a power FC and boost away
