Low boost=carbon build up?

Hi,

My friend who bought my car has been running it with 7psi boost for nearly half a year now. Since he had it rebuild 6 months ago he is worried he will damage something so he does not pass 4500rpm and leaves it at 7psi. I thing his mechanic left out the pills in the wastegate/pre control actuators to do this.

Question is, will it damage anything?

I reckon carbon buildup on the rotors could be a problem.

Any thoughts?

Poor fuel grade and granny driving contributes more to carbon build-up than anything else. If you think only 7psi will cause problems, think about all the 1st gen guys who have NA rotarys that have lasted well over 200k miles.

So you mean that the lower boost is ok then? Wouldn't the 3rd gen be running richer in this situation than a correctly setup 1st gen though?

Nope, it won't run richer.

It will probably last 30% longer or more since there is less intense heating at 7psi vs 10psi. Boost = shorter life.
