3rdGen7 - wish we could get away with painting our license #'s on the front of our cars here in the states! sure beats having an ugly *** front plate bolted to the car!!!

I live in Ohio and am currently getting away with no front plate, but I'm sure that someday I'll get $hit for it...
working on creative excuses for when that time comes!

wow, i have noticed quite a trend. these cars seem to ber very expensive to maintain. a stock LT1 if taken care of can run well up 200 000 miles no problem, and yet these rotarys crap out at 55k? i love em, and i still want one, but yikes, glad i am getting a good promotion.

- There are a few FD's here ..not too many. But because of the new tax we have based on cc's ..they are getting more popular v.s the old craze which was either a Supra, 300Z & the 3000 GTO (GT in the US).

do what I do. keep the 2nd plate in the trunk (trunk-type-compartment-that-is-too-small-to-be-deemed-a-trunk) and if you ever get questioned about it, you had to special order the part from Japan, b/c it clips on, b/c there is no way in HELL I am drilling holes in a bumper that will cost that much to replace....works as far as I've known.

Rotary Performance in Garland (in the d/fw area) will save you alot of money compared to what you're been spending, and they really know the FD well, so the job will get done right the first time.
crazy jake, if you're still in SA, then supposedly Alamo Rotary is a good place to take your FD. I haven't heard any bad things about them. Or, if you're willing to take your car up to Austin, go to MZM Performance. Mohammed is a rotary genius ... and he does incredible work. He's also very helpful with tips on keeping your FD well maintained. Just FYI.

Heat and detonation are the two things that normally kill FD engines (aside from people wrecking the cars).

Heat can be controlled if you take care of the reliability mods, and detonation can be avoided if you do proper maintanence and proper modifying.

Thanks for all the comments, at least the positive ones. I know it seems like alot of money but I didn't cut any corners and what they said they replaced, I made sure of it so I did (in a sense) got what I paid for. The $4200 motor included 3mm apex seals, low compression dishing, ceramic and MOS2 coatings to rotors, micron tapered and polish eccentric shaft, eccentric shaft oil jets, stage I street port, stainless steel exhaust manifold gaskets, rotor bob-weighted the rotors, and computer dynamic balance. So by no means a stock motor. I treat my FD like a queen, I love my car, yes it's an obsession. I even talk to my FD and pat her, "You'll be all fixed up soon" I'm in love with my car!

There are a few here but because of the new tax on engine cc's ..everyone is getting off the Supra, 300 Z bandwaggon and jumping to FD's..and not knowing anything about them too..

bad for me..they're making my care loose value :-(

I know about Alamo Rotary all to well. As far as MZM Performance never heard of them. Might give him a shot. Closer than Dallas.

Yes, you can get an extended waranty after your factory warranty expires. Do a google serach on auto warranty. I think some cos. will warranty a car up to 100k mikes.

Just be careful about reading EXACTLY what they will cover on your car! Some companies will say that it is a bumper to bumber warranty but the parts that they only will cover has to be specifically stated, verbatim, in their contracts. This can really screw us rotary guys since we have parts that are non-existant in piston driven cars.

I checked into this and actually bought a warranty(can't remember which co.) but I cancelled it and lost around $140 bucks on the deal(due to pro-ration). They wouldn't cover a repair on something I can't recall, there have been so many...But I still love the damn car!
