Loud metal clunking noise in Gear!

Ok just finished my Auto to manual swap. Here's the problem. When the car is in GEAR 1 OR 2nd and rolls forward for like 2-3 feet it would make a loud metal clunking noise! LIke a metal hitting metal clunking noise. But if I am in neutral it rolls forward and backwards fine. Also when im on the jack stand I put it in 1st gear and let it roll it sounds and roll forward fine. The noise only comes on when im on the ground putting load to it. What can it be please help thanks !

is the noise coming from the front tranny area or rear end.

A driveshaft usually gets bad U joints. But in my experience that wouldn't cause an obnoxious clunk. When my driveshaft was bad in my 240sx it would wobble at about 45mph and cause an annoying vibration that would decrease with speed increase.

remove your transmission inspection cover. Have someone that you trust, put car in gear and slowly let go of the brake. I am sure it is somewhere within the clutch. Listen for noise and see if seomthing is caught in between the engine and transmission.

My dads pickup does the same thing. I believe he said the problem was the yoke? I have to ask him to be sure.
