LOUD exhaust issue

I just got my engine back together, with some serious porting (brap brap brap )and a Turbonetics T66. I had a local shop make me a new DP & MP, 3", to go with my Racing Beat catback. Now I'm not one to complain about loud exhausts but my car is excessively loud now...I thought the RB catback was one of the quieter catbacks out there? I used to have a FC with dual N1s, bridgeport, and straight through exhaust and it seems pale in comparison to my FD.

So my question is, which muffler would be strong enough to withstand the heat and free-flowing enough to not rob too much power? I want to put it in the MP to quiet the car down a bit. Any suggestions?

There are some recent threads about loud exhaust in the Single Turbo section that you might want to check out.

I've got a ported engine with a single and RB cat-back and mine is louder than I would like, too. I also don't want the exhaust to stink, so am/will be running a cat, too. I'm having a midpipe made up with a Random metallic cat (short and small diameter, yet durable and flows well) and a Magnaflow 14" long muffler (6" round probably, though maybe 5x8" oval) in it.

Some other stuff that we have been discussing for exhaust noise:
- exhaust coatings, wraps, blankets
- long exhaust tips can apparently reduce the in-car noise
- sound deadening stuff in the hatch area, floor, etc.

there are actually threads about weld muffler in the mid-pipe section and that reduces huge amount of noise, i did that to mine and now the loudness is acceptable
do a search, popular mufflers are borla xr-1, some use megaflow (spell) ? i used a flowmaster

2 resonators, one in midpipe and one right before the muffler and now the car sound sooooooo nice.
