Looking into a RX7, Need advice
Hey all im new here, I guess I will just introduce myself, Im a 18 year old College student from UMD in Baltimore Maryland, My Current car is a 1998 Mitsubishi Eclipse GSX, Its got a nice amount of mods to it but i think its time for it to go especially with the find i just happened upon today.... But i need some of your Advice since you guys actually OWN a rx7(s) so here is the deal..
There is someone around my way selling his RX7 in order to put a downpayment on a house, it is a 1994 Turbo, 60k miles, 5 spd, New tires, brakes and rotors all around with addition to brand new turbo's, bose system, fully loaded, power everything, the car is immaculate, driven 3 months outta the year and garaged and covered at all other times, the interior is flawless looks brand new, the exterior is almost the same except for the little rock chips here and there, the car has just had all services done and has been inspected and anything needing replacing is done, the guy has all service and matenece records for the car to prove everything he has listed, i havent been to test drive the car yet but from what i have seen it is one of the cleanest ive seen, its bone stock and the oil has been changed every 2k miles...... umm i know rx7's are notorious for their engines taking a dump on them every 60k miles so im kinda skeptical (sp?) about this car, is there anything i should look for when testing this car out, I plan to buy a aftermarket warranty with it but i have also been informed that some providors know about the rx-7's engine problems and wont warranty the engine because of the big problem with the Apex seals going up and costing the owner the motor, just looking for some opinions, should i buy the car, does it sound like a good buy? or should i avoid it and rx-7's all togehter.... as you all may know dsm's are full of problems aswell so im used to high matanence cars. just looking for some opinions on what i should do prior to purchase if i decide to go through with it.
Also, he is asking 16k OBO, but i think i can get him down to 14 or so cuz it blue books at 13,200.....
