Looking to buy a RX-7
Well, my current car is a 91 325i convertable. Its a very fun car, but i am tired of it and i want a car that right out of the box will be very fun and fast, Ive decided that the RX7 is deffinatly a car i am looking into. I dont plan on moding or driving it to the limits often. I just want a car that will get me from A to B while having some fun. Now looking at alot of places like ebay and autotrader, it seems that alot of the cars have only 80k on them or so, and they have already done a motor swap too them? Whats the deal with that? Do these engines brake down often? any other common problems? Also what would be a good price for a 93(or so) under 100k and 5spd in good condition.
Thanks in advance

This question is asked more than anyone has time to answer.
Search this forum (3rd gen) for terms like newbie, reliability, practical. Then go to the Newbie sticky thread at the top of this forum and read through anything about buying or advice.
The short answer is no, this is a terrible daily driver if you value hands-free reliability. Get an RX-8 or another NA rotary.

Did you read the "newbies please search / useful links" thread? There's a TON of info there, I helped compile much of it. Read the second post, by Mahjik:

If you have any other questions that aren't answered by those links, please ask away.

Sorry if anyone one of us comes off as jerks but if you read this forum everyday you'll see how many people ask this question. Just to let you know I bought a '93 Montego Blue about 2 weeks ago and my first mod or replacement.......................a new engine!!!! It smokes like the space shuttle lifting off. I knew this going into it. Just to let you know, engines, turbos, radiators, and transmission usually go out on this car along with hoses bursting or cracking. But this car is really fun with the turbos and the distinct rotary sound.....my friend told me the RX-7 sounds like it's dying!!! LOL....I was laughing at him!!!

The care and maintenance of the car will pro-long its life. The FD like any car is as good as the care and maintence given to it. I have a 93 FD stock silverstone that I drive to work daily. I have no mods.
