I paid 18k when I bought mine this year. 1993 R1 Model that had only 26k original miles and everything listed in my "sig" was already done to it except the HKS Turbo Timer. And then I tinted the windows and painted the calipers. I am very pleased with mine but I have to be honest and say that the only reason I gave 18k for mine was because of the miles. And because I was able to track down the history of the car because I knew the original owner. I wish you the best of luck.

Thanks for all of your help guys. Like I said, I'm clueless when it comes to RX7s. The guy who's selling it doesn't usually do imports - he's a classic car kind of guy, so he has no idea what he's doing either. Ill take it for a test drive and see what I can do. Thanks again.

Oh, and nice find hus

i paid 15k for mine and it was a 93 with 67xxx with a c-west kit on it. i got it lowered because i found some things i could cut the price down on it. i read a lot on this board even before i posted so i had an idea what problems the car might have.

I paid $9800 for my 93. 70K with new paint and brand new engine and radiator. A few very minor TLC items needed, but mostly maintenance stuff.

Yes, it is of course a Twin turbo. It is Vintage Red, Touring.
I feel like I got a heck of a deal. Again, it had some TLC issues, but nothing major. KDR Rotary in PA did the engine work. It was done right. I have over 7K in receipts, and the work is only 4K miles old.

For 18k and 8x,xxx on the colck there is no way in hell I would buy that thing. If I were you I would just look in the forsale section of this forum and fine one. Even if its out of state from you. Chances are you will find a car thats in much better condition, much cheaper (10,000-13,000), and has actually been taken care of by somebody who actually knows Rx-7's. If its out of state, and only 12,500, you can spend $800 on a plane ticket and hotel and go check it out, then another $900 to ship it on a carrier and still have thousands left to mod the car.

The only way I would pay $18,000 for a 7 is if it was all or close tostock, original owner, low mileage. Or if it was extremely modified by a respectable person. Thats it.

Oh and another good thing about buying off the forum is you can search the sellers screen name and find old posts of his. This will give you a good history of the car... Good luck with your purchase. Just make sure you hold out and buy the car thats right. Dont get all excited and buy one of the first ones you see because you can swing if financially. You will regret it big time in the long run!!!

Oh and read this... https://www.rx7club.com/showthread.p...threadid=27094

Scroll down to the long post by jimlab. It should help you out a little bit.

I'll be sure to tell him you said that. The car in question belongs to one of my best friends. The $18k price came from me because he asked what I thought he could get for it after he had all the dings removed, repainted it, and probably threw on some rims. You all might disagree, but he's already had plenty of interest in the car from people off the street at that price and he hasn't even painted it yet.

The car has a lot more mods than Sp00ln mentioned. Off the top of my head in addition to what he said, it has a full (custom?) ~3.5" turboback on it into a racing beat muffler, looks to be on coilovers (ground controls maybe?) w/ adj struts, upgraded swaybars, upgraded control arms?, turbo timer, AF gauge, the intercooler is definitely greddy as is the intake plenium (might have come with the IC kit), the car is also sitting on Toyo RA1s. That's just what I could see. Everything on the car is done extremely well and its drives perfectly. It's only running ~0.5bar of boost, and I didn't see an EBC or MBC. Once my friend gets the title, he's going to call the PO and try to find out exactly what's done to the car.

If anyone is looking to trade, my buddy wants to get rid of the RA1s and probably the stock rims for something else.

JC

he's not being a dick, if you dont know much you need to start reading, its just a fact of life... you would be being a dick if you were to just go take a test drive in someones car when you had no intentions of even considering purchasing it, grow up...

Ya I really don't appreciate the fact that I sent him to see my friends car and then he would try to pull that. I told my friend today BTW and Sp00ln won't be test driving ****. I also told Sp00ln that $18k might be too high but that my friend was flexible and to feel free to make an offer. I guess he forgot that part.

That's bull ****....just because a cars modded doesn't mean it's ragged out. You can beat the crap out of a prefectly stock car. I personely started with the reliability "MODS" and of course progressed onto a few of the performance ones as well but I certianly do not rag on my car.

Like I said, people rag out and drive stock cars hard, too. But which would you rather buy? A bone stock 3rd gen driven by a like an older business man for example, or a totally modified 3rd gen driven and probably raced around and more than likely driven hard by some young kid?

My 94 had 83XXX miles on it also. Cost me 6k + paint job.. those aftermarket parts would cost you maybe 2k.. so I think a reasonable price would be 10-12k.

$2k? Dude are you serious? I wish they were that cheap. The intercooler and brakes alone are well over $2k. I assure you everything on this car is high dollar and well done, I just didn't go over it with a fine tooth comb to know exactly what's on it.
