Does it sound like a Pigeon?

I'm almost positive it's the HKS Sequential, NOT Super Seq.

Talking

Not that this is of use to anyone, but I stuck a duck call into mine. Sounds like a dying horse when I lift off throttle.

It doesn't register past a certain airflow coming out, so anything above 1 psi on the boost guage it's quiet, but once it comes down -holy crap- it's loud. I went tooling around downtown Ann Arbor during peak pedestrian period, and everyone was breaking their necks trying to see what the heck was making that godawful sound, LOL. Had a couple of ppl yelling at me that my car was broken. I just gave them a look.

I only put it in occasionally though when I don't want to push the pedal too far down, since putting a restriction in the BOV vent piping isn't the smartest thing to do.

lol, sounds like a good time. I would also like to know what BOV makes that noise also, does anyone have a sound byte of the HKS or the one he is describing?

Just send Steve Kan a PM and ask what BOV he was/is using. His username is "pluto".

Steve is running a Greddy Type R bov with a stiff spring setting. This is not something you want for a street car. The noise you heard in the video is actually not what you want your bov to sound like. Steve's bov is set for a very high boost setting, so as he is modulating his throttle the bov is opening and closing. When he lets completely off the throttle the "chhh...chh..chu" sound is caused by the compressor surging. In other words the turbo is not making enough positive pressure to keep the bov completely open, so with the throttle plate closed it is similar to the compressor trying to force air through a brick wall. As this happens it puts stress on the compressor. If your bov is tuned in a manner that produces surge at high boost settings this can cause damage. Think of it like using your hand to stop your ceiling fan while it's running. At low speeds it's not too big of a deal, but at high speeds you can destroy the entire unit. Hope this makes sense. Just ask if you need me to clarify anything further.

It may not necceserily be the BOV. Its more than likely a BIG external wastegate.

"wooo woooo wooo woo woo wo"

err, haha yeah..

Yes you can have that sound if you buy a bov that is to small for your cfm level. And yes that sound is bad and will destroy a turbo.....just like it did Steves turbo

have you vented the stock bov and crv to atmosphere??? They sound pretty damn good....especially for free

Btw, my Turbo xs rfl should be in by this friday. Anyone who has this did you make your custom adapter to plug back into the airbox or not?
