Could someone explain a little problem I had. After the test run and getting gas I brought it back to the house, sat there for a good while to let the turbos calm down. During the run everything was fine, coolent levels were good. Then maybe 30 mins later when I try starting it up again, it did nothing but make click sound. This was after putting down all my money. So I was like holy crap...! I saw the add coolent light up and was like ****, did I over heat already. So after pouring some coolent and water into it, it still wouldn't fire. So I thought maybe it was flooded. Slam the gas and try starting for a good 10 sec. Try firing again no good. Then I let my dad have a go at it and it fired like it was fine no smoke anywhere. So could it just be the coolent ?
If it really did nothing but go CLICK one time, that could be any number of issues, but I don't think any of them are "bad engine".
If the battery is low, attempting to start it will exceed the capacity and it just goes click and nothing happens. Sometimes batteries fail where they work fine COLD but not HOT. So this could explain why it did start after some time had passed. (Note that measuring 12-13 volts isn't enough.. you need to have the ability to dish out a lot of current... to test this theory you can just buy another battery or you can take yours to a battery shop and they can test this for you for free usually)
If there is a problem with the starter, the solenoid will move the starter gear into contact with the ring gear on the flywheel. This is where you hear the click from. After that, it is supposed to juice up the starter motor itself to spin the engine. If this doesn't happen because of a problem somewhere, you get click but no start.
So was it just clicking or was it turning over but not starting?
