Question Look Real Quick!! Have New Car ??

OK,
I have built tons of 10 and 11 second Honda's, Eclipse's, and 1 over rated heavy 12 sec skyline. I wanted to graduate to real car so I bought a 1993 R1 with about 20000 miles on it. Now That I have read all of these forums I am nervous about blowing my car up. I have searched this forum for this but couldn't find any question like this but if I missed something please let me know and end my thread. The car runs great but is there anything that I should watch out for like right now besides if I change the stock air box causing heat soak. I am going to have it professionally tuned when I start adding after market parts and I was thinking about having pettit racing do it all. But I am talking about things in general I should change other than what the two websites in the newbie section say. You all are doing such an excellent job of informing people like myself to pay attention to certain things. I live in a ho dunk town in MI where nobody even knows what a piston is let alone a rotary, so I rely on this sight. My Import buddies laugh at me for being so causious but they sure aren't laughing when this stock R1 takes their built 4 popper.
Thank You *Adam*

Welcome Adam! If you've read all the information in the earlier sites that's a great start. First check to make sure the reliability mods have been done. Thereafter as you mod just make sure you keep an eye on the boost and such before you get an aftermarket ECU. If you live in Michigan I would highly recommend A-Spec Tuning just outside Chicago to do work as they are more local to you and trust me they do awesome work.

don't overheat it...then the usual reliability mods boost gauge(don't go over 10psi on stock ecu), radiator, aluminum ast, downpipe, vac job if ur having boost issues, intercooler.....do alot of searching theres a ton of info here, search "newb" "newbie" "reliability" "coolant seals"....aslo if you want a real fast quater mile your likely looking at porting your engine and getting a single turbo, midpipe, stronger differential and other things to support the engine/turbo (ex. fuel system, reprogrammable ecu

search...really really knowledgable people are here but won't answer this type of thread because we get newbie questions about reliability and going fast almost daily if not more often than that(thus there are threads out there that have discussed this, likely many of them). They will answer other questions though especially if u have install issues or questions about who to go to to port or which single setup to use....

Androidmj,
Thank you for your reply, I know you all have newbie questions like this one and I appreciate the info also I am adding you to my list just in case I have any search problems if you don't mind. I am 22 years old and I am good at motor work, specially tuning but there is something about this motor that I just can't cross with it. Piston motors are a piece of cake and I am sure this could vbe in time. Thank you oh also go to this link and this is the kit I am using for my show car. Usually I have no problem winning the shows that I go to but I am trying to keep it the JDM LOOK!! Tell me what you think.
