Look into getting first rotary - general buy advise wanted
Hello all,
I'm looking into getting a 93 Rx-7 normally asperiated with 150k. Its in decent shape but I really don't know anything about these engines so wanted to ask for some advise before I bought it. I know its stock and it starts, runs and revs smooth, stops good.
What are the main things that go wrong with this car and how can I check it. I consider myself pretty knowledge about cars in general but don't get too complex on me.
Also what is a fair price for this vehicle?
Thanks - Justin

3rd generation RX-7's don't come "naturally aspirated," so thats the first thing i question about the vehicle. There's a lot of information you can use in the FAQ. These cars can get people in huge trouble if they don't know what they are doing. A properly running FD can range from $10,000-$25,000 in most cases. It all depends on condition.

first off, its not stock. all FD rx7's come stock with twin-turbos.
That is very odd that someone would do away with both turbos and have no turbo at alll...i would deffinitly think it would be worth looking into why on earth it is NA...is it the original engine minus the turbos and vacume lines etc? or is it a whole new motor or what??
maby its turbo and the turbos / control system isnt working?? find out why its NA!!
oh and take a look in the 3rd gen archives as to what to look for when buying

There are several comprehensive buying guides already created and in place.
Seriously question the whole N/A thing... Those are a lot of miles for the car, I'd def get a compression test done before putting any money down. Also check to see that the title is clean and look into any recalls which have been performed on the vehicle.
I'd spend a LOT of time browsing through the forum, learning as much as you can, before considering buying a 7. This car is not for everybody (I spend six months lurking and learning before I bought mine).
