Live in Ca and must smog my 3rd gen
I live in southern Ca. and am setting up my car to do a smog inspection. I am going to replace the cat converter with a universal unit and will need to use the flanges off the old one. I will cut them and weld them in line with the new Cat and the old exhaust. I guess I could go under the car and check myself but does anyone know the stock size of the connection at the converter or more the size of the inlets leading into the cat. I have to order a universal cat and they COME in a few sizes. 2.0'', 2.1/4'', 2.5''', 3.0'' etc. What size would I need???

I measured the stock cat in my basement and it was 2.5" in and out. I don't think it would pass smog or I would loan it to you. The first baffle that the exhaust air hits has cracked and the piece that broke off is lying sideways in it. So it is not much of a benefit to you.

Thanks, The cat I am getting is only a 50 dollar part via Ebay. I had my Ca. smog license 2 years ago but let it go because I got out of the business. The PO box is a slick Idea but I can set it up to pass. It will take a little tweaking. The engine is ported so it's good the test is now under load and not just a unloaded idle.
