Linearized their Water Temp Gauge Instructions?

I've searched and came up with nothing. All the links are down. Anyone have the instructions?

so im a bit confused.... you need a potentiometer to dial in the exact amount of resistance your car needs for the gauge to move correctly. Is this a function of the fact that mazdas range is really large (the non linear aspect of the gauge) so that it's basically insensitive to small fluctuations in resistance that we are interested in... and only starts to move with very large changes in resistance? It seems kinda crazy that each car would need such a specific resistor that only works for your one setup.

Does the ecu reference this sensor, or is it only used for the gauge? if so could we swap out sensors for something that would be a little more accurate, and less sensitive to the individual differences of each car? (meaning something universal). I assume with the current fix, if you swap either the sensor or gauge cluster you will need to recalibrate again??

The sensor is only for the gauge. The ECU uses a different sensor for it's coolant temperature.

Yes, you can probably search and see what resistance others used and use the same. Yes you would need some calibration if you plan to use a different sensor with the gauge just the same if you tried to use a sensor that came with a Greddy gauge but with a Autometer gauge.

FWIW, I used to be really pro for this mod against adding an aftermarket temperature gauge. However, I changed that tune a few years ago and think it's a waste of time. Unless you know your range, you won't have too accurate of a reading with the stock gauge. That, and it's very simple to install an aftermarket gauge.
