limp mode automatic on/off
I've recently noticed that one day on a 2nd gear pull, the car would feel like it hit fuel cut or something. I would see a huge cloud of brown smoke, and the engine would feel like it just lost an apex seal or something, and the boost guage would only show a few PSI. However, at the next stop light the engine is idling perfect, with vacuum at 17inHg solid, and with perfect boost pattern. This is a very RARE occurance, as it's only ever happened to me twice; once a couple months ago, and just yesterday.
I'm trying to figure out if anyone else has had this kind of experience. It seems like limp mode, but wouldn't that require an ECU reset to put the car back into normal operation? My experience feels more like a temporary limp mode that pops up for a 2nd gear pull, and then disappears just as quickly as it came. It rarely happens, but it's happened twice already so I'm a little concerned.
I have all the bolt ons, streetport, M2 ecu, etc. I've done wide lambda testing on the dyno and have healthy air/fuel ratios. Fuel filter only has 12,000 miles on it, but I'm planning to swap that out soon as well. I reset the ECU last night, so I'm not sure if there were any error codes stored in there.

Something similar happend to me also. I started to accelerate but went very slow then the engine began to accelerate hard (delay). I got up to 50 mph and it felt like it was stuttering. There was an acceleration then a loss over and over. Then I took it to a side road and it seemed to be fine. I am also running rich. It also was after a 50 mile trip, a 30 min cool down then started it back up.
