limp mode?

Is it possible for the car to go in to limp mode without the check engine light coming on? Everytime I reset the ecu my car runs great but if I let it sit for awhile it will run like crap again until I reset the ecu. What would cause it to do that?

Yes it's possible. Happening to mine right now. Although I haven't figured out how to cure it yet. Mine happened while Mazda was doing a compression test, so I'm not sure what's up with it.
