I have a friends 93 R1 and his light wont flip up or turn on. The parking lights turn on and brake lights work. When I push the light pop up botton on the dash the headlamps pop up, then i can hold the brights on and they work. I checked all fuses so now I am lost.

Check the wiring? Maybe there's a short.

 

From page E-19 of the Body Electrical Manual:

*damaged relay
*open or short in wiring harness
*connector not fully seated

There's a troubleshooting procedure but it pretty much requires pictures to explain.
