I know of one FD that has shed enough weight to be down around the 2500lb mark. Car has NO interior to speak of - no dash, no nothing. Just roll cage and a few of the necessary gauges and instruments.

I think I'm that "some guy" Jedon was referring to...I've talked with the owner of that car, Jeff Keisel, several times. The fact that the car only weighs 2250 is only half of the story, the powerplant is a 415hp Banzai engine which is a HUUUUGE WASTE OF MONEY @ $35,000 from Pettit. Despite that however, I'd bet dollars to cents it's the most insane RX-7 you've ever heard! Also, the 13.5" Hoosier Racing slicks in the back probably provide quite a bit of traction. That thing is just a monster...anyways, back on topic If you're really looking to go faster you should invest into some serious rubber, one of the best handling mods you can do to any car is good tires. However, since you'll be using it on the Nurburgring that might be a bad idea considering how that track can get damp in various spots at any given time without notice.

I guess the only good info I can give you is to not get a C/F hood. Do you realize how light your hood is right now? 8lbs or something? Is $1000 a good idea to lose all of 1lb, IF THAT?!

Have fun at the Nurburgring! I can only dream

Chronos,
OE hood is very light but get the aftermarket hood if it's vented!

Just take off the hood. Then the car is lighter and vented!

Crispy, I have every intention of getting a vented hood for my car as it's essential to the V-mount IC/Radiator system I plan to install. However, it was suggested as a weight saving device, which it is not in the least.

I talked to Jeff Keisel at Sevenstock6. Those doors are 7.5lbs each because they are CF and don't have a back. The use the stock latches though since they only weigh 1lb. The motor is tuned to 440 to the wheels at 8psi right now because he does AutoX and any more than that results in massive loss of traction. He is currently tubbing the rear to put even wider tires on so he can up the boost. Turbo is good for 21psi, where the engine should make about 800hp. It weighs 2300lbs with no gas but with oil and coolent. The only thing that is going to stay metal is the roof due to SCCA rules.

Man, I'm so pissed I couldn't make it

Yeah, the 440rwhp is the stock 550hp flywheel figure for the Banzai engine, that engine is well capable of 800hp at the flywheel though...possibly even at the wheels, but he'll probably blow it before he gets there. Nice to hear that you got to meet him though Jedon, I'm sure the whole event was tons of fun :\

Btw, did you see the new engine bay? I've been saying he needed a V-mount system and instead he makes a some freak thing with the IC at about a 160 angle so no air will go through it and the radiator still up and down at a 90 degree angle. Ohh well, atleast it looks pretty

Ohh, and I seriously doubt he needs anything more than the 13.5" rears with the Hoosier slicks he recently said he put on. Whatever though...that guy has unlimited funds.
