I see women leaving their cars idle all the time, even when they're out of the cars for like 10 mins. It just shows laziness and stupidity. 1. It's a waste of gas. 2. Overheating problems. 3. Sombody could just steal the damn car. Woman should be banned from driving.

Yo, I did that to a Celica once. Was looking for my keys the next day after driving home drunk (not bragging- I can't stand driving with any alcohol in me now), and couldn't find them. Step outside and 1. it is running, 2. the door is open. 3 the stereo is playing and the door chime is chiming. Good thing I lived in a good neighborhood. Oh, I did that to an old F100 I had too, btu not only did I leave the keys in the truck with the truck running, I broke my door getting in my apartment (a heavy steel door) because the keys were in the truck. Drinking and driving deffinitely doesn't mix.

Oh, and good luck 93BlackFD. I hope nothing was damaged. Not to sound stupid (at least any stupider that I already do), but why would idling your car for 9 hours use THAT much oil????????? I would expect to be able to drive for 9 hours without any significant oil consumption, so why would idling use so much????????

I ended up having to replace the coolant level sensor and that was all.
Of coarse I totaled it about 3 months later so I could say if there was any long term damage to the orings but I doubt that there was.
you shouldn't be drivin drunk my friend.

I know about the OMP on my old seven, but it varies the amount 'injected' by RPM (vacuum). I didn't realise that idling would cause it to inject so much. Maye the computer controlled system on the FD adds more when idling to control heat when idling for long periods?

I would worry about the carbon buildup also. Check the plugs, and the car should be okay. As someone said, at least you know your cooling system works well.

so the fans were on? If so, i would imagine you would just have to change oil and otherwise should be fine.

BTW: You must have a stock exhaust or something. Personnaly I can hear my exhaust about 5 houses away, I can hear my brother's exhaust down the street (3 inch dp with 4 inch mp and catback, straight thru )
Just another reason to get a aftermarket exhaust!

9 hrs * 60 min/hr * 750 normal idle RPM = 405000 Revs.

405000 Revs / 3500 RPM on highway (~70MPH) = 116 minutes

116 mins = ~2hrs Drive...

so what is the big deal? I don't see the harm in that...

LOL
