Larger fuel system, and air pump question
So I have the kg secondary fuel rail with 1680 injectors that I want to put on my car. I was told that if I do install them I have to remove my air pump, and get a pulley kit. If I remove the air pump then I need to remove my cat.
My car passed the etest and while I do not truly care to much a bout emmissions I do not like the smell these cars make. Lol
Is there a way to keep my air pump and still install the rail/inectors. If so then I won't need to buy/swap other components.

im probably mistaken in this, but i see no reason you have to lose your air pump as a result of larger injectors, and even if you did, you can still run a cat w/o any problems, it'll just shorten the life of a stock cat...

I'm not familiar with the fuel rail, but if it does require AP removal, you can get an idler pulley instead of an underdrive set. That way you'll keep good belt contact with stock belts and won't have to worry about issues when underdriving accessories. Available from at least three sources I know of...Garfinkle, Chadwick (Tweakit Racing) and Pineapple.
FWIW I have the Garfinkle version https://www.rx7club.com/showthread.p...ghlight=pulley
Running without an airpump does not seem to bother the aftermarket hi-flow cats. I've been running without one on my bonez for more than two years. Matrix was still normal as of this fall and it flows fine. I also don't have to deal with the smell and extra noise. If you have emissions, I can't see how you would ever pass without a cat.

Bypassing the ACV and running air direct to the Cat will shorten its life and while increasing NOX emmsions under high speed/load operation. The CAT's are better running with no air injection and continual injection. The ACV sends air to the exhaust port during low speed, idle to 3800 rpm (below 59° water temp) or 3200rpm (above) and on deceleration; to the main Cat second camber during cruise and cuts off all air above 3200 rom or in high speed operation.

I recommend getting rid of the cat. It will reduce backpressure and provide better response and top-end. If you replace it with a silencer like the Racing Beat's or any other decently sized one, your car will actually be quieter then with that small cat you have. The smell is also not bad since you still have the 550cc injectors so the idle does not need to be rich. Just ask a forum member named Zhe who did the exact same thing. I actually wanted to recommend you remove the cat in the spring.
