Large IC fit with Koyo rad

Let me start off that I used info from this thread

https://www.rx7club.com/showthread.p...hlight=asp+fan

and this one

https://www.rx7club.com/showthread.p...highlight=koyo

I lowered the AC condenser, unbent the rear bracket tabs, and completely removed the upper rad brackets. STILL doesn't fit right. The duct sits lower allowing me to close the hood with the support in there but left to right it didn't improve at all. Here's some pics, please help me out with this one, I'm out of ideas.

Here are the left and right of IC so you can see its out of whacK:

Here's how the rear ended up:

Here's the rad in relation to the condenser:

My spacers:

Here's how the duct sits and the rad from the front. The rad really is TOO low now:

And finally an angle of the duct:

thanks for any input

Agreed, your radiator is definitely sitting too low in relation to the nose opening. If you leave it like that, I'd think that you'd suffer from poor airflow into/through the radiator, unless you sealed up the compartment airtight.

I think you need to trim a bit off the IC hoses so that you can pull the IC back a little (NOTE: do this carefully, as once you trim the hoses, you can't put the material back if you go too far). Try to get both the IC and the duct back a bit, so that the duct is not sitting up on the radiator fan bracket so much (which I guess is causing your hood clearance issues). Put some grease or oil on the inside of the IC hoses so that you can manuever them a little, allowing you to position the IC better in relation to the duct.

Hope that helps. Good luck.

Thanks Kento, I'll give it a shot. Thankfully to boost the front of the rad up a bit I can just push it above the air guide there. Once I lowered it so much and it still wasn't quite right I figured it had to be something. Played with the pipes a ton, guess I'll play some more and then cut a bit if that fails.

It's a little difficult to tell from the photos, but either the duct or the IC is obviously sitting a little crooked in relation to the other. The problem is that the duct is basically a slip-fit, so there's nothing really holding it in place, other than being butted up against the IC. Since the IC basically sits in place as well (only the IC piping is holding it in place), maneuvering the silicone couplers can (hopefully) help set the IC to a preferred spot. Due to the large (and even medium, judging by previous threads) IC's size, you need to try and keep it off the radiator fan bracket as much as possible. The Koyo rad is thicker than the other aftermarket units, but not by that much; I'm sure there must be others out there who have the same combination with no fitment problems.

Not that this will slolve your problems, but I recommend supporting the A/C condensor with longer bolts and spacers to open out gap with rad. .. they should be parallel;

Kento, the two threads I referenced were talking about this exact same setup, which is where I got my ideas from. Worked for them but not me apparently.

Julian - check the 5th pic down, thats just what I did. I don't know if its the condenser or rad thats outta whack.
