^Same here, I am trying to understand, but I cant fathom a reason why it was created if a simple Google search that was claimed to be done was performed and yields amazing on topic results.

This thread makes me laugh... Only the Gallardo had standard opening doors, but that is neither here nor there. Lambo doors belong on a LAMBO!

I once was a ricer with a Civic (Highschool) and bought the "quality" expensive kit for my car. And it worked great for about a week until a strut blew out and it ruined my fender. Even the quality kits are not worth their weight in scrap.

Hopefully this helps your "curiosity"

I'm sure the people at Koenigsegg disagree.

Technically they do not have scissor (lambo) doors. They are a pretty trick setup they call a "dihedral syncro-helix actuation".

They wouldn't, those are not Lambo door, they are "scissors" doors. Completely different design. I actually heard a guy once tell a Koenigsegg owner he loves the Lambo doors on his car and the owner got pissed... I guess I would too, the cars are WAY different. Its like saying Porsche as a one syllable word... its a two syllable word!

Yet and they both rotate virtically to open so does it really make a difference? That owner really has no right to get pissed. Lambo pioneered the virticle opening doors decades ago. Koenigsegg (decades later) took that same basic idea and engineered their design to separate themselves from the originators. There are pioneers and then there are those that follow in those pioneer's foot steps (which is soooo much easier to do after the fact). Hell look at the Dyson Vacuum cleaner and all the knockoffs years later. Lol!

The difference between the kit and real lambo doors is that with the kit you have to push the door out then up - pretty lame. Which is why when raised it looks like it is at an angle. Opposed to a real lambo that opens immediately straight up.

This was about 12 years ago in my boy racer phase, biggest mistake I ever made was putting on those doors and the alignment was never right. Even when putting back the original hinges on, it was still off. Owning a lambo now with real scissor doors, it is still a huge pain in the *** to get in and out of.

We have a customer that has them, he bought the car with them already installed. Very difficult to get in and out of since the doors are actually in the way, because they do not open all the way. I think he may be considering switching back to normal doors.

No need to hate on the guy because he wants to see/do something different than what you guys did to your car. Not my cup o' tea, but it's not my car either. To each his own.

EDIT because someone already mentioned the Koenigsegg doors, which are different. NOT a knock off, but an evolution to something better.

Not a fan. As mentioned above you have to open the door normally slightly first then push it up. It makes it difficult to enter and exit the car. All the kits I've seen have flimsy hinges and the door will bow and sway and constantly come out of alignment. I've actually removed them for customers because they bought the car with them and couldn't stand them.

As fragile as the door handle assemblies are on the FD, Im not sure they could handle the extra stress of the 'pulling & pushing'

The door isn't a huge pain in the ***. its more the shape of the car and position of the seat. Everyone busts their head on the roof getting in. :-D
