Koyo R1443N fitments / feedback

Hi rotorheads,

I've search and find little information on the Koyo R1443N radiator. Everybody seems to like it but never feedback about the fitments and stay brief with there enjoyments.

So if you are reading this thread and have a Koyo N-Flow installed in your FD, I'd like some info on the fitments and some pictures if possible.

Thanks guys!

Well, the regular Koyo is a challenge to fit b/c of how thick it is. Interference with the SMIC and to a degree the a/c condenser. Therefore you can safely assume that the thicker N flow Koyo would have the same issues. You should have seen that in past threads on this topic.

Heard about the condenser issue.
The interference with SMIC bugs me.... cause my Re-Amemiya SMIC is very close to my fans (Stock rad)

Thanks

I will be able to tell you how difficult it is to fit after I install mine next weekend or so. It is about double the thinkness so we will see. I have an M2 Medium intercooler and I don't think the extra space will kill me. We'll see. I will post a thread about my experience when I get there.

I didn't have much problem installing mine, but I guess that's because I don't have the A/C. I just modified the mounts to allow the radiator to sit as low as possible, so it doesn't mess with my stock IC.

All Koyos have fit issues when used with the stock intercooler and airbox. They do fit, but it requires some work. The intercooler and duct contact the radiator fans, but can be shimmed up with some spacers. The intake is slightly more complicated. If you are running an aftermarket intake and intercooler, it shouldn't be a problem.

Thanks guys

I'll work it out anyways and post back how it's been. I do have an aftermarket intake and intercooler... I'll probably end up shimming the intercooler, and fab my new duct while considering the koyorad+fan

I have to wait anyway since I've been told they are in backordering

The N-flow is not thicker then the regular Koyo, it just has internal partitions to direct the coolant flow. We install them all the time, I am considering doing a How-to write up, since we never have fitment issues, and we do not do any shimming of the airbox or stock IC when used in a stock setup car. Yet we read about so many people and shops having install issues.

I wonder if the people with the biggest fitment issues have damaged their lower radiator/sway bar mount brackets causing the radiator to sit higher?

We have them in stock http://banzai-racing.com/store/93+_rx-7_radiator.html

A write up would be a great contribution.
