Knock sensor problem?

Question about the knock sensor. The car (93 r1) went into fail safe mode and it's getting fuel cutoff at 6200 rpm. I went into the diagnosis and ran a wire from the ten and grn box and got the knock sensor code(5 flashes). I tried to see if maybe the ground of the knock sensor wasn't grounded right or came loose but everything is fine. Do you think this has to be replaced?

Thanks for any input!

Look down under your alternator for a black wire, it goes to a place above the front, upper spark plug. Its your knock sensor wire, the heat tends to make them brittle and they snap.

The wire seems to be connected right but the code says knock sensor. Should I replace or just bring it kd rotary?

Look at the knock sensor on the front rotor housing above the spark plugs. Sometimes they fail and leak blackish goo. Mine was leaking and during the replacement I found the connector was not connected all the way. I am not sure if it was bad or not, but didn't care to find out once I had the new one in there. I don't know where the old one is or I'd send it to you to try. When I got one a few years ago it was $108 or something from MazdaComp. Based on the price then, I would guess that they are in the $150 range now. Save money by buying from mazdaformance.com or another parts source with discounted prices.

I'm not sure what kd will charge but they have been helping me over the phone. It seems like there is no knock sensor wire period. I will see if maybe it came loose, if that's not the case I will have to go to kd...

Thanks for the input!

Yeah, the check engine light is on. It's weird it seems like where the knock sensor is suppose to be, it just isn't there.
