Knock protection

I was just thinking, why hasn't someone developed a modification that utilizes a WBO2 sensor and the factory MAP sensor with logic that determines when boost is over a certain threshold and the AFR goes too high over a given limit such that spark is subsequently cut in order to save the motor from potential detonation? Seems like a relatively simple safety net. Am I all wet here, or does this sound useful? Should I start building one?
