KnightSports ram air intake

Anyone have this?
Seems like it's for V-mount only, wonder if it could be used with a stock-ish setup.

Wow! That is neat. I would want to see it in a car before purchasing. I do not see why you would have a problem running this with a stock set up.

This Knightsports V-mount intake kit shall only fit V-mount setup, as the cold air duct will be hitting the radiator on a stock-ish SMIC set up.

There is a similar-looking (and even more expensive) AutoExe intake that is designed to work with the stock setup:

Both are nice setups but PRICEY for sure. I think you're paying more for bling factor than how well it would do over some other intake.

Yeah, I'm aware of the AutoExe one, however, it works best with 99 spec bumper which has the air inlet in the nose.

I own one of those. Actually still have to install it.

As you can see there is a clear path for the air to get to the filter.

View from the front scoop, you can see through the other side where the filter sits.

From the opposite side (filter) you can clearly see the front air scoop entrance

In this photo I installed the air filter, looking through the front air scoop you can easily see the filter (its a bit dark in there but you can see it).

Nice. Are you installing this with a Knight Sports v-mount or some other v-mount?

I have a Knight Sports v-mount and have been tempted to get this but it is not clear to me that it works with the AC condenser in place between the intercooler and the radiator.

Any fitment issues with US bumper?

Send us pics when you get it installed! It would be great to see if it only works with V-mount set ups or could be used on others...

I have the KS V-mount IC, but not the radiator or any of the brackets and/or mounts included in the kit. I bought a rotary works/eBay style v-mount radiator that I’m planing to use instead…wish me luck

regarding fitment with the AC condenser and US bumper I honestly cannot say since my car is still at the body shop getting sheet metal work done it will be a while before I get to work on the engine bay.

I will share of course but unfortunately it won’t be for a while as my build is officially the worlds slowest build…

I honestly don’t think it would work on non v-mount setups as the lower scoop of the intake is exactly shaped/angled to follow a v-mounted radiator. So I don’t see it fitting with the OEM radiator as it would get in the way…

Found some photos on my phone while I was making brackets for the custom v-mount radiator.

That is a really cool intake, looks effective! I’m glad you posted these pics. Is your setup all done? I’d like to see it. Looks well thought out.

Its not done yet. Waiting on a shop to finish some work on the rad. The CX-Racing/Rotary Works/eBay v-mount rad is not ideal straight out of the box. One thing that I don't like is where they placed the inlets and outlets. They are on the side face of the end tank and they kind of point downwards. Makes it really difficult to fit everything, especially with the OEM oil cooler lines. If you look at the Greddy or KS v-mount radiators they have the inlets and outlets on the top of the end tank. Makes it easier to fit everything IMO and less chance of air getting trapped.

Also the angle and positioning of the radiator is a bit low, makes it difficult to fit AC components and I think it sits waay to low to the ground. You have to cut and modify the OEM plastic engine tray. So by moving the inlets and outlets I am able to get a much better angle and position of the rad.

Once its all done I'll post some pics.

I made some new inlet and outlet pipes and just waiting for the shop to weld them on, and I sawed off the old inlets and outlets and the holes will be welded shut

If I knew there would be so much custom work around this cheap radiator I would not have bought it in the first place...but oh well...
