Question KDR's Anti-Detonation Device.....follow ups/Reviews ??

KDR's Anti-Detonation Device.....follow ups/Reviews ?? Just wondering if anyone is using this and how it's performing for them ? Is it true ? Can you run high boost on regualar octane gas ? I haven't heard much about it since it was just about to hit the market. Let's hear some stories.

i dont think anyone wants to be the test dummy for this one, i mean it means putting your 2-5k engine in to serious risk. also, how are you suppose to test it out, keep upping boost till yoru engine pops?

wait, does kdr put a gaurentee on this product? if not, what good is it?

I think this is because there's virtually no published information on the product from KD themselves.

The device is still in testing. It's not being promoted yet.

Sorta. People have it, and KDR is selling it to anyone who shows up at the front foor with $500, but it's still in testing, so it's not being publicized yet.

I've got it, unfortunately I can't say much other than that because I signed a nondisclosure agreement with them.
I can tell you that how it works was explained to me after signing the agreement, I am satisfied with the results so far. However, I haven't driven the car much since getting it back because of weather and schedule. The car dynoed at 303 rwhp and 280 lb ft of torque. This is with a primary turbo that doesn't spin until boost comes on (yeah, new turbos in my future).
I guess you will want to know my mods, Greddy FMIC, Power FC, Udrive pulley, Bonez DP & hiflo cat, Greddy power Xtreme catback, upgrade fuel pump, 1300cc sec injectors, Greddy Intake--I think that is it that counts for engine.

Oh the dyno numbers were running 13lbs of boost. But as I said, new turbos should improve the hp #s by 10% according to KDR. I am in no hurry though, because for me the car is plenty fast and I am not happy with my financial system right now.

I hope this 'device' takes off well! Dave and Co. are really good guys. Maybe Mazda will chuck them some royalties and a few million Imagine running low octane gas on high power turbo cars? Even though fuel mileage still sucks on a rotary, at least it's not as expensive!

You know I really hope this thing doesn't end up hurting KDR. You are going to have all these maniacs running around tuning for 12.5:1 thinking they are bulletproof... and then a few will pop and everyone will scream that it's all KDR's fault.

IMO a shop like KDR would make way more money and take a lot less risk by selling 3-rotor-in-a-box kits. You find your own 3 rotor and buy his kit which has motor mounts, sub frames... whatever is needed to basically just get the thing in the car fitting with the trans and so on. Nobody will ever say, "Dave's motor mount blew my engine!".

mmmm. agreed. 3 rotor. no replacement for displacement. It would be nice, I don't see much innovation for the FD too much these days. Renesis has hope.

I've had it on for a while now. It's actually a nice piece. We all have to sign non disclosures for this device, however I've been running 18-20psi with no detonation. i don't see any in the future as well. Once Skip explains what's going on, you will understand, but there are alot of things on their way within KDR that not too many people know about. Only the future will tell though. They are looking into turn key packages though. A few 3 rotors, and of course 2 rotor packages. The good part about what I've seen 3 rotor wise is that KDR is taking the used motors and rebuilding them, and also converting it to Single. Probably will not be long before we have quite a few 700+ rwhp pump gas cars rolling around. I was thinking about that myself. But the wife is alittle sick of the car by now. LOL.... later guys

I have the device in my car as well. i am able to run up to 19 psi on 93 octane. Dave says 93 octane is capable of running 20psi safely. Im happy its in there, having a t78 kinda worried me about blowing the stock reman. Im not worried after driving it. Ive prolly made close to 25 runs on the street up to about 120 or 130 from a complete stop, and dave told me he ended up doing 38 runs on the dyno total. I will give updates when winter is over.

I understand you have to tune it, so especially here in CA. where air temps in the summer in the desert can get 110+ and in the winter at night to 32 or lower, can you confidently say that the device adjusts for air density !? I'd be scared running 15+lbs of boost that was tuned in the summer with ambient air beeing 70+ and then running that same setup in the winter (not even mentioning ice etc...)

This is a mod that is a no brainer. KDR needs to get some reps around the country installing this thing. Any idea if there would be any performance improvement in a stock FD? Or is this thing strictly a reliability deal?

Strictly a reliablity/higher boost ability with less octane mod. Everyone is going to be skeptical about this mod, and I can understand that because I was at first too because no information has been given out about it without legal paperwork being signed. Once you sign the paperwork and he explains it though, it truely is a "Why didn't I think about that" situation. To all the negative members out there, no one is twisting your arm in this situation. If you don't need the mod or think it's a scam, so be it. I think the device is a perfect fit for KDR, as well as some other stuff they are messing around with. From what I've seen though if I can get 2-4 more psi on the street with pump gas then I'm all for it.
