Whoa, what a difference! Everything is as clear as day. I love those things. The only bad part is no high beam, oh well, can't have every thing.
I use to have the RAZO hyper white bulbs (they were $90.00), let me tell you, it is not even close. And they have shorter life than regular halogens. The HIDs are suppose to last 10times longer than the regular halogens. Which means I won't have to worry about my lights for a long......long time.

 

What price and where did you pick these up?

I've got HID's on my Passat and they are awesome..they cost just under $1100...are HID's for the RX7 pretty much the same price, any pics???

I've heard some mixed remarks on the Hi/Lo HIDs. Some people say it is not as bright as the 'real' HIDs. Has anyone seen them work and compared the two??

I got mine for $ 350.00, but that is by no means the retail price on those things. (I think the ones I have are around $800.00) It was a one time deal. Sorry.

Maybe we could all get a "one time deal"? I really despise the lighting on the FD, so being able to go HID would be awesome.

Anyone ever think about going HID with the Knightsport headlight kit? Since there's two separate lights, it might be possible to either get two HID kits (yeh, it's bux, but you'd have separately aimed high beams), or maybe there's an HID kit out there where high and low beam HID both run off of the same ballast?

I'm really not keen on losing my high beams simply because of the difference in how they're aimed. I use them all the time when I'm out on dark back roads, and they're a helluva lot different than the low beams.

 

to best of my knowledge theres no hid kit for h3 foglight bulbs, wich is what the knight sports kit uses...

for something true low hid and a true high beam, its pretty much left to custom fabbing..
the east bear lights with the hella 90mm lights looks promising but i dont think theres a hid kit for them...
one day someone will get going and make a million making functional hid kit that's sleek or sleepy pop-ups..

The east bear kit from what i have heard is the easiest to instal hids in and on top if that the kit is only $625 from east bear. Lights around another 400 or 500.. So you can have sleek lights wit hids for the same price as the c-west kit.. Talk to jimlab he knows bout the hid's he did a write up on it not to long ago. Try doing a search.

 

Sounds sweet...can't wait to see them! I just sent off my Power FC to XS to have it remapped, so I should have the R1 back on the road in about a week. I'll keep you and Mike posted

 

An easy fix for high beams cld always be adding a set of driving lights and adjusting the beam. No?

 

I just installed my HID kit tonight. Damn it is bright as hell. My old PIAA Super Plama bulbs were nothing compared to them. I've fooled people with the PIAAs before, but side by side, the PIAAs looked yellow.

Install was a bitch because I did it myself. I had problems removing the PIAA bulb from the plug. I ended up breaking the bulb. What a waste of a good set of bulbs. Then I had problems routing the wires so the headlights would open and close without smashing the wires and connectors.

There is hardly any space to put the ignitor or the ballasts. People w/ HIDs on their FD, where did you place them? I took a couple pics and I'll post them as soon as I develop them.

I had a kit on my 300zx. They aren't true HID's in the since that they look just like the bmw's and mercedes. True they are very bright, but there is no blue-ish or purplish tint at all accept for around 10 seconds when you first turn them on. They are just really white. I know on the 300zx's that your had to buy the JSpec housing in order to complete the HID kit(which were $1000). Just trying to keep you guys informed. They do look hella good none the less

When I installed them, the ballast was installed using double sided installtion tape and reinforced with tie wraps. They are located against the frame wall right next to the head light unit. The ballast is installed in the headlight housing (there was a minor cut, using a dremmel). The wires are tie wrapped to avoid the retraction mechanism. I'll take some pictures on monday and post them.

 

Oo Oo when can we here in Atlanta see your car again then, Christine? We had quite a few guys at Syms last Thurs. Hell I'd go to wherever you were to see the HIDs installed, just name a time and place. I am just waiting for true dual ballast/ dual filament HIDs to come out at a relatively decent price.

Trexthe3rd, how did you route the wires from the ignitor to the ballast? Do you have any worries of any of the stuff getting wet?
