just got my fd!!!!

finally, after years of patiently waiting, I have aquired a 93 touring model. (silver/with black int.) she has 74k with original engine, and thankfully does not exhibit any of the typical problems (yet) I will be doing the standard reliability mods, as well as adding the necessary gauges right away. On a side note, my car doesnt have a rear spoiler. I would like to install the stock r1 spoiler, however I cant seem to find one anywhere. I did some searching in the forums, but I havent found anything for a stock r1 spoiler. if anyone has any suggestions I would appreciate it.
thanks,
John

congrats on your purchase. you will not be disappointed. i just got my fd a couple weeks ago and i have never made a better purchase in my life. as for your spoiler question if you want to save some money just check the 3rd gen for sale section of the club and one will turn up fairly often. and you may be able to find one already painted your color if you are lucky.

If you have the storage space, consider buying a rear hatch with the wing already installed. The undrilled hatches are getting hard to find.

Doesn't Racing Beat still sell them? I know they used to. They had the stock size and then their own which had a similar style only it was larger. And believe it or not, at one time the J.C. Whitney catalog sold the R1 wing. The part # for that one was 07HC1661A. Give 'em a call, maybe they still have some in stock. The price back in the '90's was $149.95.

To ALL New Owners

Congratulations on your purchase, but be aware of the HUGE PRICE TAG ON REPAIRS that come with these cars. If you have over 70,000 miles on a 3rd Gen CHANCES are you are going to require a rebuild. SMART SUGGESTION would be drive it and only do mods that you will not have to REDO with the new engine. Big difference between doing your own work and paying someone to do it. When it's time to rebuild the engine, it's time to rebiuld the turbos. START SAVING AND START DOING A LOT OF READING. For the people who read this and CLAIM that you can get more than 100,000 miles out of a 3rd Gen. Try driving the car like it was meant to be driven, it makes a difference.
My Experience: Two 3rd Gens (93 Mont Blue and now 94 VR) and I have been through most of the pitfalls, but I wouldn't trade it for anything besides a 96 Viper.

thank you for your concern. I have done extensive research on this car and feel pretty good about the whole thing. I had things checked out, and they seem ok right now. I went into this expecting to replace the engine right off the bat, so if she pops, no biggie... Ive acually been prowling this site and others for a few years now. I didnt want to buy until I had garage space, and enough money to do it right. ( and I WILL drive it like it was intended!)

gainer_reniag- definetly interested. its not silver by any chance is it?
what would you take for it?

thanks all!! I will be posting pics soon!!
