just got it

Hey guys! Wow, it's been a long time sense i posted! I sold my 93 vintage red touring 3rd gen FD a while back, and got 16K for it .
It was just last week when i was driving around in my brothers Mustang (ouch) when i spotted this magnificant blue 3rd gen in a bank parking lot. i quickly pulled into it and saw it was for sale! I looked at it; it had an Apexi turbo timer and DEFI gauges throughout, stock twins, A-pillar guage pods and a HUGE FMIC and Petit intake and dp! It had 12,789 miles on the BNR rebuilt 13B that was just installed. i got the dudes number down on the sign and drove home. i called him up and asked how much he wanted for it (there was no price on it). He said the thing was a prescription for a headache (yeah, haha) and he would "give" it to me for $12,000. i offered him $11,500 and he took it.
I just got it today! I just got the plates and title on it, and i drove it for the first time today. Wow, it was amazing. I had forgeten how much i love FD's (I have been driving my gf's '02 Civic coupe, my crappy '92 sentra i just bought, and my bro's Stang, i need a rotary!!!!). i was in heaven. I sold my crappy '92 Sentra SE-R for 2,350 and used it for having the engine rebuilt with Hurely Racing 3mm Apex seals and more. then i tuned it to perfection. the thing is amazing.
next up for my new baby is an exhaust system and either the BNR Stage 3 twins or a single turbo upgrade, but i can't decide which one to go with.......

Dave

BTW, i'm also getting the new RX-8, so hopefully i'll have enough for it!!!!! (Fingers crossed)

hey thanks man!
xstacy7; i heard A LOT of good stuff about the stage 3's, but i also heard they make the engine overheat more. A single turbo frees up space and lets the cool more. man, this is one hard decision.......
It's still my daily drivers, so reliabiltly is a BIG issue (considering my old FD HATED me with vengence and would die twice a day...it got my fired from my old job!!! Curse that FD!!!) This FD i just got is great; it has started on a dime every time and has perfect boost patterns. i actually feel bad for ripping the guy off who sold it to me...... oh well
the only thing i would change about it is the interior is a bit riced-out, i mean it has tons of guages that aren't nessasary, yet, and a-pillar gauge pods, and the worst is the stupid japanese script, which i am removing tommrow ASAP

Dave:

Congrats on the purchase, if you want to do a turbo upgrade go single. I can't even explain to you how much easier the car is to maintain and work on, and WAY easier to troubleshoot. I know there are those who really like the low end push the sequential gives you, and I loved it too.. just not the headaches. My intake temps also went way, way down after installing the single. The BNR's are great for the price it looks though.

Great steal man. Glad you're back into the car. But I must admit I find this very funny that you said, I'm poor yet you are buying a new RX-8 haha. Welcome back and I hope this 7 treats you better.

A BNR rebuild with 12,789 miles and you needed another rebuild?

How many miles on the chassis?

Good luck with the new car.

hey mjw; i REALLY want a single but the low price of the BNR's is very attractive for the power they make....bang for the buck
well i say i'm poor because i lose all my money to the money pit (errrrr......FD ) and the rest i do have i spend on food and other car stuff (i'm a tad upsesed )
johnchabin, there is a total of 76,541.8 miles on the chassis. the dude who i bought it from said he raced the engine hard on weekends for about 8 months, so i just replaced the seals for saftey and reliabiltly issues. i hope to keep this engine around for a long time.

Re: just got it

So within the span of a week, you bought a new FD, sold your old Sentra, pulled the engine out of the FD and installed new seals, and put it all back together?? Damn, you work fast. And you have enough money to buy an FD and rebuild the engine and buy a new RX8, but you're too poor for a digital camera?? Hmmm...

I know the RX-8 isn't out yet, I never said that. Your story sounds a little fishy, that's all. If it's all true than congrats, and good luck with the FD.
